Jonathan Tallman watched his family’s Oregon farm get devalued and ultimately sacrificed for an Amazon powerline, clearing the way for a data center. Despite years of resistance, they were powerless to stop it. Non-disclosure agreements, state-level lobbying, and city politics all played a role in the outcome. Here in Indiana, we face our own battles with big energy at the state level. So let’s take a look at what happened in Oregon — and more importantly, let’s talk about how everyday community members can come together to protect the land we love, so future generations can grow up in places worth calling home.
